Description:
This error message appears when you try to specify a width for a column, parameter, or variable, the data type however, not supports such a width specification.

Consequences:
The T-SQL statement can be parsed, but causes the error at runtime.

Resolution:
Error of the Severity Level 16 are generated by the user and can be fixed by the SQL Server user. You need to remove the width specification.

Versions:
All versions of SQL Server.

DECLARE @nonsense MONEY(8)

Remarks:
The data type MONEY has an exactly determined storage requirements. It is a fixed-length data type and does not support the custom specification of a width.
