Each file size must be greater than or equal to 512 KB.

Severity level:
16.

Description:
This error message appears when you try to provide a file size less than 512 KB in a CREATE/ALTER DATABASE command.

Consequences:
The T-SQL statement can be parsed, but causes the error at runtime.

Resolution:
Error of the Severity level 16 are generated by the user and can be fixed by the SQL Server user. You must correct the file size to meet at least the required minimum of 512 KB.

Versions:
All versions of SQL Server.

Example(s):
CREATE DATABASE abc
ON PRIMARY
( NAME = abc_dat,
 FILENAME =’E:abc_dat.mdf’,
    SIZE = 0,
    MAXSIZE = 0,
    FILEGROWTH = 15%
)

Remarks:
In the above example we’ve provided a file size of 0 for the file ‘E:abc_dat.mdf’. This is less than the required minimum size and raises the error.
