Error Message:
Msg 6104, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot use KILL to kill your own process.

Severity level:
16.

Description:
This error message appears when you try to terminate your own process via KILL.

Consequences:
The T-SQL statement can be parsed, but causes the error at runtime.

Resolution:
Error of the Severity Level 16 are generated by the user and can be fixed by the SQL Server user. The statement cannot be executed. You cannot terminate your own process via KILL.

All versions of SQL Server

Example(s):
DECLARE @stmt NVARCHAR(100)
DECLARE @my_spid INT
SELECT @my_spid = @@SPID
SET @stmt = ‘KILL ‘ + CAST(@my_spid AS NVARCHAR(10))
