Database option ‘%s’ does not exist. Specify a valid database option.

Severity level:
16.

Description:
This error message appears when you try to set an invalid option in the sp_dboption procedure.

Consequences:
The T-SQL statement can be parsed, but causes the error at runtime.

Resolution:
Error of the Severity level 16 are generated by the user and can be fixed by the SQL Server user. The statement cannot be run this way. You can only set valid options in the sp_dboption procedure.

Versions:
All versions of SQL Server.

Example(s):
USE master;
go
EXEC sys.sp_dboption ‘Pubs’, ‘right only’, ‘TRUE’

Remarks:
In the above example we try to set the option “right only” in the sp_dboption procedure.  Because this option is unknown, the error is raised.
