• DevTeach/SQLTeach Held in Vancouver for First Time

  For the past five years or so, DevTeach/SQLTeach have been held in Montreal, QB. This three-day two-in one conference provides a wealth of information for both developers and DBAs. This past week, the first DevTeach/SQLTeach was held in Vancouver, BC bringing over 326 people together to learn and network. DevTeach/SQLTeach is Canada's biggest conference for developers and DBAs. I attended the conference as a speaker and did sessions on: How to Performance a SQL Server 2005 Performance Audit How to Optimize SQL Server 2005 Memory Mastering SQL Server 2005 Profiler The next DevTeach/SQLTeach will be held in Toronto in May 2008. • Microsoft Offers Free Online Course on SQL Server 2008

  Microsoft Learning is offering a free, three-hour, self-paced, web-based, on-line training course on the improvements that will be available with SQL Server 2008. The course is text-based, so you will be spending a lot of time reading, but it it worth it if you want to get a head start on SQL Server 2008. The course is called "Clinic 6188: What's New in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 for Enterprise Data Platform," and is divided into three catetgories, so you can focus on what most interests you.
