    Developer to Enterprise Edition

Hi all According to my knowledge the difference between SQL server 2005 Developer Edition and Enterprise Edition is that you cant use Development edition in production environment.

My doubt is how does the application come to konw that we are using the Developer Edition not the Enterprise One. Little offbeat question but please share your knowledge.

    Regards

Application doesn't matter for DE or ED , but it is illegal to use DE in production environment.

number of users are limited for DE. check microrsosoft site for license policy and price and no of users.

EE is expensive (per CPU /per server ) , SE is cheap.

you need CAL and server license (just a paper but costly Wink)  to run appliaction on EE.

You may not get into trouble until you raise a case with Microsoft support (CSS) in the future, or any AUDIT process within the organisation.
