    Can install sql server 2008 in restored windows from system restore??

    I use windows xp sp2 on my laptop. But this windows has been restored, i use windows system restore. Then i try to install microsoft sql server 2008 enterprise edition. The problem is 1. I can't connect to my database 2. In the services, i can't find MSSQLServer 3. In the administrative tools, i can't find Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Configuration

    Welcome to the forums!

    If I understand correctly you are not able to connect to your SQL Server after your restore the system. According to http://www.5starsupport.com/faq/xp-system-restore.htm#1-5 windows system restore will leave your installed programs intact. Was SQL Server 2008 installed before, and more importantly after SQL Server 2008 installation did you Create a restore point!!

    Can you please post the error message!! So that we can understand the scenario better!!
