We're implementing a RAID 10 array for the data portion of a VLDB, which is mainly used for random reads. 

Is there an optimal segment size I should be setting the array to?  I've seen 64k being mentioned, and it makes sense given the size of an extent is 64k. 

Can anyone share their experience in this regard or offer any documented evidence as to what is the optimal segment size?

I use 64k... and it depends what kind of HW you are using...
