authors provide many interesting and useful tips, tricks, and insights without fixation to a specific system. "Physical Database Design" is
wholeheartedly worth reading. Especially interestingly is the chapter "Down to the Metal: Server Resources and Topology", which deals with the
hardware for a RDBMS server. Each chapter is ended by Tips and Insights for Database Professionals", that sum up the foregoing content. A worthwhile
investment.
