/3GB and /PAE switches

    When I read the AWE tips, I really felt hard about /3GB switch and /PAE switch, somebody here offer me a precise and understandable answer.

    The article seem quite clear:
    4GB RAM: /3GB (AWE support is not used)
    8GB RAM: /3GB /PAE
    16GB RAM: /3GB /PAE
    16GB + RAM: /PAE

    Or do you have a question about a specific memory setup?

    Yes, I understood this OS level settings. But I felt confused about the real thing behind the scenes the /3GB and /PAE switches do?
