Brad Is it possible to provide a list or count of current active members on the forum, like in Dbforums.
That's a good question, and I don't know the answer. I do have the ability to track all of the active sessions on the entire website, but I don't know how easy it would be to do so for only the forum. I imagine it is possible. Does anyone have any suggestions on how this can be easily done? ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
What current active members means? Some number of post by month?. Member without post from n months?. Luis Martin Moderator SQL-Server-Performance.com All postings are provided “AS IS†with no warranties for accuracy.
It means how many people are currently logged into the forum. I forget to mention, that during a typical workday, there are about 500 or so active connections on average to the entire website. The busiest I have seen it is just over 1,000 active users. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
Yes, but in most cases even a logged-in user will be counted "inactive" after some period of time. Brad, there are some around mods on Snitz. I believe this to be the most popular one: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=26194 Haven't tried it myself, though. --Frank http://www.insidesql.de
Thanks Frank. I have added the modification, and you can see it at the bottom of the home forum screen. Let me know if anyone runs into any bugs, or if this feature introduces any performance drag on the forum ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
Thanks for quick turnaround Brad and to Frank as well... It looks great on the main page and nothing seems to be changed on the Performance of the forum. Satya SKJ Moderator http://www.SQL-Server-Performance.Com/forum This posting is provided “AS IS†with no rights for the sake of knowledge sharing.
Brad,<br />no performance penalty here. I think we can hardcode "satya" in that list [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-5.gif' alt='' />]<br /><br /><br /><br />--Frank<br /<a target="_blank" href=http://www.insidesql.de>http://www.insidesql.de</a><br />

Brad How about including this on the Active topics screen as well, if you feel this is beyond your time or disturbs any format then don't put yourself out to do so. Thanks. That's not a feature of the mod installed, and I am not smart enough to figure out how to modify the forum's code to add this feature myself. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
Even if so, would be a real pain when you're about to upgrade in the future. I experience this here myself. I use mambo as my cms and said to myself to cahnge a little as possible to the core package to make update and upgrades fairly easy. Now I find myself maintaining a list of some 30 points to carefully consider when thinking about a update to the core. Sigh! -- --Frank http://www.insidesql.de

Brad, the upgrade looks great. Thanks. <img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' /><br /><br />MeanOldDBA<br />derrickleggett@hotmail.com<br /><br />When life gives you a lemon, fire the DBA.
I was thinking about Satya question and I understand the complications to implementate. How about last member post and new Member? Some times (most of the times) I have Active Topics open, and when grow I can't follow in easy way if someone made some new (not 0 answer) post, may be in response to my post. May be with last member post and new Member will be easy to follow up. Luis Martin Moderator SQL-Server-Performance.com All postings are provided “AS IS†with no warranties for accuracy.
Unless the code is changed a lot, I don't know how this can be done. Luis, you want to volunteer to rewrite the code? [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-4.gif' alt='' />]<br /><br />-----------------------------<br />Brad M. McGehee, MVP<br />Webmaster<br />SQL-Server-Performance.Com

Hey!!!, I'm not a new member!!!!![<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-4.gif' alt='' />][:0]<br />I allready use in that way, but suppose the following: I visit two customer per day. I work in each customer about 4 to 5 hours. First customer has not internet. When I open the forum in second customer there is at least 20 or more active post. <br />I began to see every one. I answer (just and example) 5. The others 20 still there. <br />Is difficult (not imposible) to find if one of the post I don't participate, has other new question o need some more information.<br /><br />Ok. Not a big deal, was just a suggestion[<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' />].<br /><br />Luis Martin<br />Moderator<br />SQL-Server-Performance.com<br /><br /><font size="1">All postings are provided “AS IS†with no warranties for accuracy.</font id="size1"><br /><br />
