I need to add a new column having datatype varchar in a table that is already configured for transactional replication. The replication occurs every 15 mins. We are using SQL server 2005 enterprise edition. Can anyone tell me the steps involved in adding in adding the new column. I tried to add the column directly to the table but does not allow me to do and throws the error : The table is involved in replication.........
Any help or article on this is highly appreciated.

Did you use the Management Studio GUI to add the column? If you use T-SQL (ALTER TABLE) you should be fine. "Making Schema Changes on Publication Databases", ms-help://MS.SQLCC.v10/MS.SQLSVR.v10.en/s10rp_1devconc/html/926c88d7-a844-402f-bcb9-db49e5013b69.htm, in Books Online contains details about what you can and cannot change.
