I only just beat Madhivanan to it: that was his #974 ... I'm very happy to join the club! So I guess I shouldn't give you my favourite Groucho Marx quote "I wouldn't want to be a member of a club that would accept me as a member" - oops, I just gave it, didn't I?
Ooh, in that case...<br />We don't accept you in our club [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-4.gif' alt='' />]<br /><br />--<br />Frank Kalis<br />Microsoft SQL Server MVP<br /<a target="_blank" href=http://www.insidesql.de>http://www.insidesql.de</a><br />Ich unterstütze PASS Deutschland e.V. <a target="_blank" href=http://www.sqlpass.de>http://www.sqlpass.de</a>) <br />
OKAY, STOP POSTING IMMEDIATELY!<br /><br />...btw, next week we're in the Netherlands in a family park named Katjeskelder (hopefully correct, haven't looked it up). Had to look that one up, and it's near Oosterhout - which is near the city where I work, Breda. Have fun!
No. I read somewhere that some countries have longer day time than Night time<br />Out of 24 hours, some countries have 18 hours day Time and 6 hours night time<br /><br /><b>"Sun rises at MidNight"</b><br /><br />Thats what I asked [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' />]<br /><br />Madhivanan<br /><br />Failing to plan is Planning to fail
We're not in the tropics, so depending on the season there are more hours of daylight than the hours of darkness (summer) or considerably less (winter). Now you have me puzzled by the "Sun rises at MidNight" quote ... what does that refer to?
Thanks, mmarovic, I know I've learnt a thing or two from you in the past.[<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' />]

>>Now you have me puzzled by the "Sun rises at MidNight" quote ... what does that refer to? I mean There is a country where Sun appears till 12 PM. I dont know whether it is Norway or Netherlands Madhivanan Failing to plan is Planning to fail
The phenomenon you're describing is the midsummer night, and it occurs on the northern hemisphere above the arctic circle, so it happens in the northernmost parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Greenland - probably also Canada. I would assume that there's also a midsummer night (only 6 months later) on the southern hemisphere below the antarctic circle - perhaps in the southernmost parts of Chile and Argentina, but there isn't too much land that far to the south. If you get really close to either pole, there is no real night during one half of the year, and no real day for the other half. This is caused by the fact that the earth's axis is not perpendicular to the plane of the earth's orbit around the sun, so the poles are pointing away from, or pointing towards, the sun. If the pole is pointing away, it has no real day, otherwise it has no real night.
