We currently have SSAS and SQL Server on the same machine combining our OLTP and OLAP. We are having severe performance problems. So we are moving SSAS to its own machine. Here's my question: if we leave the Relational databases used to feed the Cubes on the OLTP server and just move SSAS and the Cubes etc...to a separate server will this ease the load on the OLTP server? Or is it best to move the Relational processing source databases to the new SSAS server as well?

If you move the SSAS from OLTP server then definetly you free some of the resouces used by SSAS.
When you seperate them you get the benifit no matter how you do it...

I believe there is a 2 fold problem here, it could be either resources issue from hardware or the OLTP instance query might be a problem.
So what kind of hardware you have for SSAS to seperate?
