Cannot drop pull subscription on the publisher

    Hi,

This is the first time that I am setting up replication on a SQL Server.
I setup a replication between SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005.

    Servers are fully patched.
SQL2000 is the publisher & distributer
    SQL2005 is the subscriber.

I had the replication working, but because of some physical storage problems (The transaction log grew up to 17GB ) I had on the subsriber server, I stopped it and deleted the the subscriber db. I know that now I confused the publisher by doing that. It still thinks that there is a subscriber db (which is gone now).

My question; is there a way of deleting all replication settings on a publisher regardless the state of the subsriber? I tried

sp_dropsubscription, sp_droppullsubsription procedures but they HANG and do not give any error messages? Can I check somewhere (a log file) to see why it is hanging and identify the problem. Error log files under MS$SQL directory does not say anything about this. NT event log gives me the following error:

    Error: 18757, Severity: 16, State: 1
    The database is not published.

Any kind of help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Sinan

    Smy,

Thank you very much for providing me this link. I will let you know the outcome as soon as I try the instructions in the white paper. I had never seen this documentation before.

    Thanks again.
