You might want to check this out first:http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/default.asp and then come back with more specified questions. I'd start with BOL (it's free) and if you really MUST purchase a book, Inside SQL Server (good for SQL Server internals). The Administrator's Pocket Reference is little more than BOL in a printed format. The only time I find the Sam's "learn this in this many days" books helpful is when I have NO experience with a product and I need to get familiar with very BASIC functionality quickly. I doubt they will help you with your certification quest.
Hi all,

as i have said in my previous responses to simillar kind of questions, please do have a look at EXAM GUIDE first, then you start looking for BOOKS, as SQL ADMIN is a topics where you can find lots of BOOKS, but you need to know what topic exactly you must prepare for the EXAM, so i suggest firsthttp://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcdba/requirements.asp for MCDBA certification
orhttp://www.microsoft.com/learning/exams/70-228.asp for the ADMIN exam only

Good Luck[]

AKTHAR DILMOHAMUD
65 BENARES ST
PORT LOUIS
MAURITIUS
