I am taking ASP.NET course and following text. Have had several "brick walls" to break through. In text, it talks about localhost, but I cannot get login to work for that. I finally was able to create login using: WEBMASTERSQLEXPRESS Webmaster is computer name.
Then, I tried to create a new database and got the following:TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio------------------------------Create failed for Database 'Players'. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=10.0.2531.0+((Katmai_PCU_Main).090329-1015+)&EvtSrc=Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.ExceptionTemplates.FailedOperationExceptionText&EvtID=Create+Database&LinkId=20476------------------------------ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)------------------------------CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 262)For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=10.00.2531&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=262&LinkId=20476------------------------------BUTTONS: OK
Any ideas from anyone. Please note, I am a non-coding person. Just trying to learn.

    Welcome to the forums.
The login that you are using need to have CREATE DATABASE, CREATE ANY DATABASE, or ALTER ANY DATABASE permission.
To maintain control over disk use on an instance of SQL Server, permission to create databases is typically limited to a few login accounts.
Further to this you can download SSMSE- http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...AE-4BD1-4E3D-94B8-5A0F62BF7796&displaylang=en which is a GUI based tool to carry out the actions.

Where do I set those permissions? I went all through the properties of my login, but anytime I tried to add any permissions, access was denied. I created screen shots of different attempts, but apparently cannot include them here. How can I add them so someone can see what my settings are and maybe can help?

HI,You are getting this access denied message, because your account do not have relevant permissions to grant the privileges. If you know the 'SA' user name and password, you can login from it and grant the required permissions/privileges as Satya mentioned. If not, you may need to get in touch with the SQL DBA who supports your server. He can help you to get this done.Regards-Johnson
