A DB say 50 gb size, has 2 Filegroups, FG1 and FG2, one of them is backed up everyday in roundrobin fashion and Transactionlogs are backed up several times a day. A full database backup is done once during weekends. If on Thursday afternoon, the database is broken!, On wednesday FG1 was backed up.
    1.How will be recovery done??
2.For huge databases what is the best backup plan?

To comment on your second question, a 50GB database is not very large. I backup a similar size one every night in about 90 minutes using the SQL Server backup command. Of course, your hardware will vary and your backup performance will vary when compared to mine. I first backup to disk, and then sweep the disk backup to tape. If you use a third party program, such as SQL Litespeed, your backup times will be even much faster.
