Hello all. I'm looking for some advice on a DB server i'm going to buy. I plan to use SQL 2005 x64.
First, a little background on what the server will be used for. I plan on having a separate server to host our web server. Thinking IIS and ms server 2003 x64 for software. The website is going to be a lot like autotrader.com. Large database with pictures and info tied to users accounts, a lot of searching.

My first concern is with hard drives. I'll need scalability since we'll start very small and keep growing. What's the common practice? Raid 6? or do you just keep back ups on a storage server or something? I'm planning on going Dell, they seem to have good servers.
Regarding the license, I gather paying per cpu is that way to go for websites. So would that mean a multi-processor setup would be inefficient cost-wise? Since each cpu would cost about 5000.
