I am executing a query from an MSDE on a laptop. The query involves a linked SQL Server. I get the error message: "Distributed transactions could not be started."
Check whether MSDTC has been started or not on both the machines. _________ Satya SKJ Moderator SQL-Server-Performance.Com
I am trying to run a transaction in an SP residing on MSDE. The SP makes an insert statement on the remote linked SQL Server. I get the following error message : The operation could not be performed because the OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB' was unable to begin a distributed transaction. [OLE/DB provider returned message: New transaction cannot enlist in the specified transaction coordinator. ] OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'SQLOLEDB' ITransactionJoin::JoinTransaction returned 0x8004d00a]. MSDTC is running on both servers ... please advice me.
