One more...Anyone heard Microsoft's current stance of end of life for SQL 2000?

Still there is plenty of life left on SQL 2000, but once Katmai comes to the terms it will be hard to see the stance like SQL 6.5 days currently.

I dont it is practical to stop SQL Server 2000 support yet. Many are still using SQL Server 2000. So microsoft will countinue to support SQL Server 2000 for another 2-3 years.

Agree on the terms of usage, but once next version RTM comes you would see the behaviour similar to 6.5 at present [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-6.gif' alt=':(' />].<br /><br /><b>Satya SKJ</b><br />Microsoft SQL Server MVP<br />Writer, Contributing Editor & Moderator<br /<a target="_blank" href=http://www.SQL-Server-Performance.Com>http://www.SQL-Server-Performance.Com</a><br /><center><font color="teal"><font size="1">This posting is provided AS IS with no rights for the sake of <i>knowledge sharing. <hr noshade size="1">Knowledge is of two kinds. Can anyone that has been using sql 2k5 and used to use 2K give me compelling reasons to upgrade from one to the other? trying to build a case for upper mgmt to upgrade.

We or anyone cannot give you the compelling reasons to upgrade from 2k to 2k5, if the application can cope up the load until next 5 years then you can leave it in SQL 2k. Or if you want to take full advantages to new features in SQL 2k5 then you have to test it for further information.
