Is there any way to allow a user to open a DTS package and view it but not execute it? I have taken away all the rights that public has by default when it comes to SQL Agent jobs and DTS Packages. I then created a user role and granted it execute on msdb..sp_enum_dtspackages and msdb..sp_get_dtspackage. Unforunately, I am finding that even with only execute on those two procedures I can execute the DTS packages.

    As far I know, no.
Anyway why one user want to know that?. If he/she have skills to understand that, may be he/she is candidate to have more privileges.

While saving the package to SQL server, you can set DTS password which is in addition to sql or windows authentication. Password can be of type owner password or use password
