This is the first time I see such sh*t. I can't think of an automated way to send such mail via the forum, but I'll look at it, of course. -- Frank Kalis Microsoft SQL Server MVP http://www.insidesql.de Heute schon gebloggt?http://www.insidesql.de/blogs Ich unterstütze PASS Deutschland e.V. http://www.sqlpass.de)
Regan, you're obviously not the only one, to whom this happened. Unfortunately only the forum admin, Brad, can ban a member from the forums. The moderators can't do a thing right now. Probably the best immediate action is to deny members to send you mail via the forum. Just like you did. I've pinged Brad and I guess that's all for now. Thanks Frank, I kinda guessed there wasn't much else we can do. I fear that the horror that ruined newsgroups could be extending to forums? Maybe I've been lucky so far?? Just though it was my duty to report it. @Madhivanan: naturally, I don't respond. But I think it is necessary to let people know it happened - hence my post here. This just started yesterday. I have deleted the use who was doing this, but he may sign up again under another name. I'll try and keep on top of this, and hopefully he/she will give up. If you don't want to receive these, you can go to your profile and change the setting "Allow Forum Members to Send you E-mail" from yes to no. This will prevent this type of spam. It will also prevent you from receiving any e-mail from other forum members also. Isn't it a wonderful world we live in where people have nothing better to do than sit around and do this kind of thing? :-( ----------------------------- Brad M. Even I too got same email and I agree with Brad to keep our eyes open and act accordingly. Satya SKJ Contributing Editor & Forums Moderator http://www.SQL-Server-Performance.Com This posting is provided “AS IS†with no rights for the sake of knowledge sharing.

Brad, meche01 (doujey_1982@yahoo.fr) is still sending mails and is not blocked yet i guess. I received a spam mail from him today morning.
Change your profile setting according to our recommendation temporarily. It's frustrating and annoying, but the only way for now.<br /><br />Anyway, aren't we all friends somehow who share the same passion for SQL Server? [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' />]<br /><br />--<br />Frank Kalis<br />Microsoft SQL Server MVP<br /<a target="_blank" href=http://www.insidesql.de>http://www.insidesql.de</a><br />Heute schon gebloggt?<a target="_blank" href=http://www.insidesql.de/blogs>http://www.insidesql.de/blogs</a><br />Ich unterstütze PASS Deutschland e.V. <a target="_blank" href=http://www.sqlpass.de>http://www.sqlpass.de</a>) <br />
Frank,<br />I had noted down the recommendation but i did not changed the profile as we all are friends [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' />]and as it will also stop others to mail me up.[<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' />]<br />
Yes, that is sadly the downside of such abuse. The spammer got another account, but I have deleted it. I have also temporarily turned off automatic acceptance of new members. This means I will have to accept every new member before the can post. Hopefully, I can turn this off after the spammer hopefully gives up. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
