Brad - I ran across this and thought you might find it usefull. Not that I see any performance issues so far <img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' /><br /><br /<a target="_blank" href=http://www.sqlteam.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28042>http://www.sqlteam.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28042</a><br /<a target="_blank" href=http://www.sqlteam.com/item.asp?ItemID=6891>http://www.sqlteam.com/item.asp?ItemID=6891</a><br /<a target="_blank" href=http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=18732>http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=18732</a><br /><br />Bambola.<br /><br /><font face="Book Antiqua"><font size="2">If we are to achieve results never before accomplished, we must expect to employ methods never before attempted. - Francis Bacon</font id="size2"></font id="Book Antiqua"><br />
Thanks for your research, I will look into this in more detail. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
A few pages on site, especially the respond to topic are getting so slow that people end up clicking the post button twice and causing duplicated posts. I actually got timeout a few times. I think the problem comes from the page it redirects to as the post appear in active topic long before page is processed. For all of you who read that, there is no need to click twice. Brad, I can try to look into the asp pages and see if there's a fast way to solve it. But I think the problem comes from default.asp to which post_info.asp redirects. If so from what I have read (briefly I'll take a better look now) it can be solved by adding an index on table FORUM_REPLY on columns FORUM_ID, R_STATUS (or adding the R_STATUS to the FORUM_ID index).
True, it (timeout & slow response) happened to me today while replying 3 posts. Then after deleted the duplicate responses when it came back. _________ Satya SKJ Moderator SQL-Server-Performance.Com
I just added this index. Does performance seem any better? ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
I can't confirm 100%, as I'm currently accessing from work place and will be able to know once I'm from home. By all means thanks to Erela & Brad. _________ Satya SKJ Moderator SQL-Server-Performance.Com
Yes I believe the performance is somewhat better. Gaurav Moderator Man thrives, oddly enough, only in the presence of a challenging environment- L. Ron Hubbard
I agree <img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' /> <br /><br />one thing I did notice...<br />The 'active' link that shows you the active posts since the last visit seems to update the last visit time too soon... i.e. You click on it the first time and it is great, you go into a post read it and answer it. Now when you click on Active it only shows you the post you've just made... Is there any chance that the timeout for inactivity be increased so that the same visit is assumed if I return say within 15 or even 30 minutes?<br /><br />Great site guys! Sort of stumbled over it after a google search for something. Tons of good stuff, and quick responses to colleagues<br /><br />Cheers<br />Twan
There is an option to reload the page on right-side top corner. _________ Satya SKJ Moderator SQL-Server-Performance.Com
Bravo.... I confirm the speed is optimum as earlier... [8D] _________ Satya SKJ Moderator SQL-Server-Performance.Com
I am on my way to my vacation. See you in two weeks. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
Dusting off....this thread Speed on the forums seems to be decreased since last weekend (from home), I presume at my work place firewall/routers etc. filters and facing performance issue. _________ Satya SKJ Moderator SQL-Server-Performance.Com
Yes, performance was down this weekend. I blame it on my hosted SQL Server. I think performance is better today. Let me know what you think. I will also take a look at the database, as much as I can, as I am somewhat limited in accessing the hosted server. ----------------------------- Brad M. Thanks for the information Brad, I shall confirm once I access from home. (comparatively better from Office now) _________ Satya SKJ Moderator SQL-Server-Performance.Com
I can feel better performance over last week from home, its not hanging when I reply any thread. _________ Satya SKJ Moderator SQL-Server-Performance.Com
