Getting SPAM emails like this...

    I am getting SPAM on my emails from this site with the following email address. Can you please take care of this user and protect member's email from being spammed.     Hi, I searched for this guy but can't find his email in the members list as he probably used a different one to sign up with (I can see a similar name but I'd like to be sure). Could you let me know his member name as I think this would be on the email.

    Spamming is definitely a bit of a problem under the current setup as members are premitted to email eachother. This feature is definitely being abused but I am not sure if it is yet serious enough to warrant turning off email as it is a good way for members to get in touch with eachother off the forum. The problem is that the forum doesn't have personal messaging which could replace the email sending function and is a standard feature on most forum platforms now. I will be taking a look at Community Server 3.0 which is currently in Beta and the plan is definitely to migrate this forum over, however, migrating a large active forum is no small task...

    I also recieved the same email. It happens to me occasionaly. It's allways a bank in Africa, sometimes the relative I didn't know about that just died and left me huge amount of money.

    Guys, I use my Gmail account for everything and I get about 1-3 spam messages in my inbox a week. Everything else gets filtered to spam. You just need to mark those messages as spam and they'll stop coming to your inbox. My spam box on Gmail currently has about 6,000 messages in it that I'll never read. Works great!

    We are more concerned about the getting the SPAM from SSP forums email, where you have no control unless the user opt out to not to receive emails.

    I can't remember that right now, if tehre is a general setting in Snitz, but what about turning off this private mailing thing here anyway. I mean, does anyone actually ever use that?
