Is there a way to reduce log buffer wait? Is there some setting or settings that I can change?
If not, how can I find the database and queries which are causing log buffer wait.

In addition to what posted by Luis :

    · You can configure adequate initial size of your log file like 1 GB , 2 GB or more according to your volume of OLTP transactions (Insert/update /Delete/Merge)

    · And thus you should customize your shrink jobs to the same value of initial file size either 1GB , 2GB or whatever to reduce IO cost consumed by Log file expansion

    · Also , specify an adequate log file growth (In MB) like 50 MB , 100 MB or whatever according to your volume of OLTP transctions

Hence, you can reduce IO costs consumed within expansion each time OLTP transaction is executed and thus log write and log buffer waits
