How to start with mirroring

Hello all,

I have gone thru bol and other microsoft sites on mirroring , but the complete information isnt available. and apart frm that i want to test how it works on one server
rather than 3 servers...,and when i tried to do mirroring im getting errors related to ports,plz let me know how to find out which ports are available.And step-by-step procedure for mirroring is what im looking forward for........

well i too got the same error,,,and iam still workin on it.Sidh be sure that u have taken atlest one log backup with no recovery option , along with full backup in mirror server, and use witness server also ,,,,,,,,,,,i would inform u if there are any developements with me & may i expect the same from u . I thought this below link can help u out or go through search option in it ignore it if you are all ready aware of it.....
