We just upgraded our prod dbs from sql2000 to sql2005. The logreader agent started, failed and stopped. The sql dump file is recorded in sql error log along with errors similar to the following:
    2008-04-17 06:28:42.53 spid86 Error: 5243, Severity: 22, State: 4.
2008-04-17 06:28:42.53 spid86 An inconsistency was detected during an internal operation. Please contact technical support.
    2008-04-17 06:28:42.55 spid85 Error: 14151, Severity: 18, State: 1.
2008-04-17 06:28:42.55 spid85 Replication-Replication Transaction-Log Reader Subsystem: agent JANA-PanSales-1 failed. The process could not execute 'sp_replcmds' on 'JANA'.

A note from the above site says that it is required to drain the log before upgrade. But offer no solution or fix once error occurred. Does anyone encounter this issue and how to fix it?
    thanks in advance,
    tc

Couple of documents suggests that to stop replication when you need perform the database upgarde, in this case I would suggest to reinitiate the replication settings on this newly upgraded database to see whether it works.
