Hi guys, just need to clarify something. does maintenance mode take the disk offline, i did a Windows Server 2008 course where the course material states that yes it takes the Disk and dependences offline. now my Cluster is a Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2 cluster and reading online MS documentation seems to suggest that no it wont take the disk and dependences offline only disables the disk level checks for the resource. Can someone please clarify this for me with regards to 2008 R2.
Welcome to the forums. I'm little bit confused with the question, are you saying that you've tried maintenance mode or getting to know what happens when it is in Maintenance mode?
Basically i am wanting a better understanding of what happens in server 2008 R2 when you put a disk in maint mode. In R2 does it still take the resource and dependances offline or?
Ok its clear now, what it will do when mainteance mode is enabled: Blocks virtual machine or any disk operation on the host. Excludes the host from the host ratings during placement. Displays a host status of In Maintenance Mode in Host view of the Cluster Administrator Console.
