Major Change to Forum Contest

Discussion in 'Former Forum Contest' started by bradmcgehee, Apr 30, 2005.

We had a forum discussion on this topic several months ago, and after a lot of consideration, and the feedback I received then, I have decided to change how the forum contest works.

First, the program I have for free logo-ware clothing will not change. If you receive the required number of posts, you will still get your reward.

Second, the part I am changing is in regard to the software prizes given out each month. Instead of awarding prizes based on the number of posts, I will have a drawing each month for anyone who makes at least one post a month. In other words, prizes will be awarded at random (a drawing) to anyone who makes a post. The winners will be announced in the twice-monthly newsletter, and winners will have to contact me to receive their software prize. I will post more information on the new rules in a couple of days.

This will begin effective May 1, 2005. So prizes will be awarded for those who participated in April. I will announce the April winners on Sunday, May 1, 2005.

I have no problem with that. But I would like to know, what is the reason for that change. Just curiosity.

There are several reasons. First, a lot of software winners have actually been turning down their prizes. Two, it is a lot of work for me to maintain the contest the way it is. Third, I want to give the opportunity for others, who may not be able to post as often, a chance to win.

Looks interesting Brad, and I believe changes in the process will give provide opportunities & participation in the forums.

Its good that the old-fashioned number of posts is faded away and single-thread also counts towards the prize, new wave to addup forums strength.

    Hi Madhivanan,
By saying lady luck,
I meant to win the contest u just need a luck. As all wise men says that behind
every man there is a woman(ur wife)[] and behind that woman there is another woman(optional ur girlfriend)[B)]. As the contest is for all those who makes a single post so the competetion is big enough and to get out of blues u need to be lucky and i feel is to have that lady luck favouring u. [:I]
So Am i right my friend. . . [^][]

Yes you are right Ranjith. I did not think about this when I read "Lady Luck"

I thought it was about quality of posts, not the number.

What I am trying to do now is to be more inclusive, allowing anyone who participates in the forum a chance to win a prize.

It's great. Now we juniors have a chance to win prizes [] []
For me valuable postings of all Moderators#%92 and other members are important not prizes. [8D]
