    Hi there,

    maybe it's just me, but I like to visit the profiles of the members to get an impression of the people behind the post.
    IIRC, Snitz offers the functionality of adding a picture to the profile, Either on someone's own webspace an linking to this or even on the site hosting the forum software (aka this site).

    What do you think about it?

    I like the idea, but like most women, would have a hard time picking a picture of myself that I like! But I would do it if the pictures were only available to members.

    I am interested.... Other day I got a chance to speak to one of our peers and believe me he was way different than what I had imagined.... So I guess this is great idea...

    This way we can develop RELATIONSHIPS with all our FOREIGN peers. But definately the FIELD will be NULLABLE and having no CONSTRAINTS whatsoever.... Also Brad needs to make sure the SPACE is not a problem at his SERVER.

    Yeah that kind of talk makes me feel I am a database guy.....

    What do u say guys???

    AFAIK, in Snitz forum software you have to be registered member to view the profile of other members. This is default configuration. Otherwise all doors were wide often for all kinds of email grabber.

    To answer Gaurav:
    This column is already there, the adminstrator can define which information is to be displayed in the profile and which is not. And there are two alternatives where these pics can/should be stored. You just need to define PictureURLhttp://<somevalidpath>. This can be on Brad's webspace or anywhere else.
    And Yes, I definitely believe this will have a 'social effect'

    hehe, I had the advantage to know what bambola looks like looong before she placed her photo here, but I had a different picture of Brad in my imagination. No bias, just different. I love this feature.

    before monday. really. And gasp, if you really want to see.....I cant beleive this.....here is a link to my pictures from a 1/2 marathon I ran Oct 12 (Victoria, BC, Canada). I go by Chris all the time, so even here, my registration was under Chris. Not the most flattering pictures, but after 2 1/2 hours of running, who looks good.

    Click on show all pictures and there is one of just me(I'm the one in blue). The other is a friend I ran with (Terrah). And to show that I didnt just pick a picture out of thin air, if you go to

    select half marathon and enter the same bib number and ta-da ---- chris fretwell --- in group F3539 (female, 35-39) and a very, very slow runner.

    There are other, older photos of me on the web in a few places. I did a quick 'google' on my name and found more places than I remembered, and of surprisingly, a couple other people with the same complete name as mine (its not a common surname). Try looking yourself up on the web. Its an interesting experience.

    Hmmm - not certain re cookie settings - work at a large corporate, they "push down" settings on login re: IE etc. We definitely are behind a firewall. I was able to get automatically logged into the site, which I assume means cookie enabled.

    Still, I saw some of the messages say - you cannot link to this page - think it was a yahoo page ...

    I can see yours, Satya... an Bambola's as well now. Chris doesn't seem to have a picture link, and only Gaurav's refuses to show (his is the yahoo page).

    I've got issues with the dimensions of the image. The picture box on the profile page seems to have been somehow designed for a particular size of photo or thumbnail. It is stretching my picture out very 'interestingly'....I just retrieved it but will put it back after I play around with the measurements.
