Merging the post numbers?

Forum moderators,<br /> Is there anyway we can merge post numbers by same person but with different login name? I guess it will become two person if they sign in with two different logins. [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-5.gif' alt=';)' />] Just my two cents...<br /><br />Thanks,<br />DilliGrg

I don't think this is an option on most forum platforms. Certainly not on the Snitz forums which the site currently runs on, I also had a hunt through Community Server (which is the likely next forum for the site) and didn't find anything like this. Anything is technically possible as a script could be run against the database but as this proabably wouldn't be a mission critical issue and as such a script could potentially destabilise the forum I think a better bet might be to just start posting on a single login and build the post count.

Yes, the only way would be to mail to webmaster and ask him to correct the numbers manually. [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt=':)' />]<br /><br />But why? After all, post count is irrelevant and doesn't imply anything on the quality of each single post.<br /><br />--<br />Frank Kalis<br />Moderator<br />Microsoft SQL Server MVP<br />Webmaster:<a target="_blank" href=http://www.insidesql.de>http://www.insidesql.de</a>

I was just curious because one of my other login had almost 200 post counts and I completely forgot the password. Instead of using the forgot password link, I created new login and new password so now I have two logins with two different posts which is kinda funny. Not a big deal anyway. Thanks for the responses. [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt=':)' />]<br /><br /><br />Thanks,<br />DilliGrg

Contact Jude directly with the details and ask him for tha favor. It's just a single UPDATE statement as the post count isn't calculated at runtime, but rather is a column in the member table. Send mail to Jude mentioning your password. He can find the password and send it to you though post count is nothing to do

Jude can manually update the database to do this. I have done it in the past for others.

    Hi Jude,
I did sent an email with (Email Poster) button from the forum itself and looks like it went to some other users. Do I need to send separete email with the email you have mentioned here instead of using the email poster tab? It's not a big deal anyway, if it is time consuming. Thanks for the response.

    Thanks,
    DilliGrg
