My DTS converts empty string to NULL upon transformation

Guys, im in need of an urgent answer to this issue. My DTS package converts empty string to NULL upon transformation, how can i prevent this so that i will retain the value of empty string to my field?
    Additional Info:
1.) When i use a T-SQL script, the value of empty string is retained after replicating it to the destination.
2.) i want to retain the value of that field to empty string because the field i am pertaining to is part of my composite key (series of primary key in a table), therefore, null value is not allowed. There are times that a record in that field may not contain value (or is just spaces or plainly empty string) but should not be null since it is a primary key.
3.) Using DTS in the replication of that particular table causes the value of empty string in that source field be NULL in the destination which raises an error of inserting NULL value to a field that does not allow nulls.
