I need to put together a proposal for database mirroring for dbs on our cluster. Need some best practive advice and technical info about mirroring options.
We're on EE, so we have all the features available.
First, should we mirror each instance to a standalone in DR? What is the recommended mode we should use (ie HA, HProtection, High Performance?)
Our primary is geographically different than our secondary. Should we use automatic failover, or manual? If we do mirroring, is it the same consideration for master and msdb (ie logins, jobs) as log shipping was? Also, how does automatic failover work for the application (is further coding necessary?) Do I need the witness?
What other considerations should I think about? Many thanks!
