Some how, the builtin/administrators were taken out of the users on the 2000 SQL server...I am unable to do any maintainance functions...mostly everything is greyed out...cannot run a query like I did a week earlier...
I do not see the builtin/administrators in the master...I DO have the sa password and would appreciate someone giving me the information to get administrators back...
    thanks much!

    WElcome to the forums.
If you have the SA password to logon, then simply create a SQL Server service account on windows and put that in Administrators group (if you don't have one already). Say if you have a SQL service account then simply add that in Adminstrator group, then restart SQL Server services to keep the service account as owner for maint.jobs.

Sorry...having a time trying to figure out how to do what you suggest...perhaps a link to an example?

Login as SA to sql server and run the following code in Query Analyzer...USE master
    EXEC sp_grantlogin 'BUILTINAdministrators'
    EXEC sp_defaultdb 'BUILTINAdministrators', 'master'
    EXEC sp_defaultlanguage 'BUILTINAdministrators', 'us_english'
    EXEC sp_addsrvrolemember 'BUILTINAdministrators', 'sysadmin'
