I want to create a new tee-shirt design, something that is funny. I could then use this as a gift, similar to the other logowear clothing I give away. Since I am not a very funny person (most people tell me I'm too serious), I thought I would start a contest, as I notice that many of the posters in the forum have a funny bone or two.

Here's what I am looking for:

--I would like a "cartoon-like" image that includes some funny text, similar to a single-panel cartoon you might see in a newspaper. But, it has to relate to SQL Server performance in some way. It does not need to include the website's name or logo, although it can.

    Rules:

--You don't have to be an artist. If you don't draw, what you can do is come up with the "text punch line" and then describe what the image should look like. I could then have a professional artist create the cartoon. Of course, if you want to draw the image, that's OK too.
--The joke and image must be 100% original and not based on any copyrighted joke or image.
--Please post all of your entries in this forum.
--You can submit as many different entries as you like.
--All entries must be submitted by October 15, 2005.
--At this time, I will then pre-select 5 cartoons. Then, I will post them on the website and then I will allow all of the website visitors to vote for the winner. The winner with the most votes will win the main prize. The other four runner-ups will get a free tee-shirt with the winning design.
--The winning entry becomes the properly of SQL-Server-Performance.Com.
--I reserve to change the rules at any time.

    One First Prize:

--The winner will not only receive a free tee-shirt with their own design, but also a free SQL-Server-Performance.Com logo Land's End Polartec jacket, and a USD $50 gift certificate from Amazon.com.

    Four Runner-Up Prizes:

--A tee-shirt with the winning design.

I don't see any ideas here yet. Is this a bad idea? Please give me your feedback.

Some ideas I have had, at least in general, are:

    1) Use some T-SQL to be funny, such as: "SELECT * FROM table WHERE number = 'any'" equals getting fired
    2) Have some saying, such "Certified DBA, Geek, and Nerd", or "Super Performance, Super DBA", or something along these lines
    3) Cartoon of a server in flames, with this below: "I guess I over-tweaked my SQL Server just a little too much"

These are not very good, but maybe they will spur some ideas.

The deadline has come and gone, and the responses were minimal. Besides those you see here, I also got some directly from some of you.

None of the entries I received was what I was looking for. I do appreciate your time and efforts on this, and for those who submitted an entry, if you like, I will send you the new t-shirt, once I come up with a suitable design. If you made any submissions, please e-mail me with your size and address so I can put you on the mailng list for when they become available.
