Active Users Record: 256 | Record Set On: 04/26/2006 at 09:43:07 I noticed today that we have a new record, with 206 active users on the forum at the same time. The prevous record was in February 2005. I have been hoping to see the old record broken for a long time. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
Thats good to see another milestone on the forums, I believe this is a beginning and more to come....

That is encouraging. Users are getting more problems, other users are finding even more solutions. Can you find out where exactly the hot-spot (focus) was? Which forums were most visited at that time? Or is it just a Tuesday syndrome: "Come to work on Monday after a crazy weekend, don't know what you are doing on the server and hey! you have just caused something bad to happen by the end of the day. Tuesday morning, run to SQL Server Performance for help." Nathan H. Omukwenyi MVP [SQL Server]

Don't worry! It won't be the ultimate record. Look at that number now. How is the performance of the forum doing during busy times? I haven't noticed any slowdowns, but I have fast access to the server. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
The difference is unnoticable ... a bit differnce for the post with more than 15 replies..which is negligible. are people familiar with www.alexa.com it rates web site traffic, this site is considered slowat 6sec response, 94% of sites are faster i am guessing this is because the forum section take longer to load than statis pages, so i think there is value in trying to get faster response times. i don't know how they gather statistics, is their toolbar required? anyways, there higher the website ranking, the more valuable this site becomes in terms of advertising revenue potential
I see some delay time first time I get the forum. I think is for advertising. I have seem the website stats in Alexa, and have always noticed that they say the website has slow response times, which has always puzzled me. You do have to have a toolbar for Alexa to capture the data it does capture. I use the Alexa toolbar at home and find it very useful. Also, about 2-3 weeks ago I added some new indexes to the forum tables to boost performance. But I think that any delay you see is due to ads. Some of the banners are bigger than they should be, but it is hard to convince advertisers to use smaller sized ads. ----------------------------- Brad M. I also believe the delay is due to the banner server for the ads behind the scenes. There seem to be many ad zones defined and from my own experience it's the more banner zones there are that pick ads at random the more time it takes to process everything and serve the ads. I don't really think that Snitz itself is slow. It might be optimizable, but that would require many hacks into the code. Anyway, personally I think overall performance is acceptable. -- Frank Kalis Microsoft SQL Server MVP http://www.insidesql.de Heute schon gebloggt?http://www.insidesql.de/blogs Ich unterstuetze PASS Deutschland e.V. http://www.sqlpass.de)

Now, when my internet connection is upgraded even I see the response time difference between this forum and sqlTeam (anohter Snitz forum). However, I agree with Frank, performance is still acceptable.
