I hope someone can help me with this.I know this is not the right forum to post so I apologize in advance but dont know who else to ask... We have a client, I remote desked (RDC) to their server and set up their server as FTP server per these 2 sites: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=323384 http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Creating-Configuring-FTP.html When I'm on their server , I can open IE and type "ftp://theIpAddres/" and I get to the FTP folder.. Now I want to FTP to their site from my machine..we're not on the same network of course, I type "ftp://theirIPAddress/" and i get the msg "windows cannot access this folder.." What do I need to do? should my PC also be an FTP server??
Is their machine actually available on the internet, or is it on an internal network? Does the address start with 10.100?
Hi, as merrillaldrich asked , you have to check that 1). if it is internet, server has a its own public ip address and it is properly bound or not !? 2). a user you are using to connect should have proper privillege to access it ! 3). if its not on internet and in local network ,both are on same network segment ?! the error message shows that you are able to connect but permission are not setted proper.
