[I know it's a SQL Server website, but there are many Oracle guys here, so I am postig this question here.] Is there any Oracle server available on the Internet for the public? A friend of mine wants to learn basics of SQL. I know that you can download the setup package from Oracle website but it is huge, and she has only a few days. -- "Recommended By Dr. Audioscrobbler." http://www.last.fm/user/chopeen/
For just learning the basics of sql shed probably be better off downloading MSDE <br />Im not sure why the requirement of Oracle, is she *nix based ?<br /><br />Im not an Oracle user (well its been over 10 years since I touched it), but I understand its pretty much light years ahead of SQL Server (shoot me down guys <img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' />, and so probably its better to start with MSDE because its more simple also.<br /><br />But, I think Oracle do offer a downloadable version on their website<br />
No, she's not Unix-based. But the company uses Oracle servers. However, I'm going to follow your advice - I want to help her and I know nothing about Oracle databases. -- "Recommended By Dr. Audioscrobbler." http://www.last.fm/user/chopeen/
http://metalink.oracle.com/ is the best resource and I have used it many times before and as SQL technet you can refer to http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle8i/htdocs/linuxsoft.html oracle technet too.
