Hi Folks, I am a SQL Server developer looking to enhance my DBA skills and move into SQL Server administration. And im looking forward to get certified as SQL DBA.But i have no proper guidance for the DBA certification like the pre-requisites papers to be completed , and wat are the optional papers.I looked over a few sites but cudnt decide a path. And right now I have exposure only to SQL 2005 and 2000.so preferably 2005 certification would help. Can anyone please let me know or guide me to get on the track for DBA certification.I have necessary materials and stuff to read and work from and also good resources in my work environment where i can really work on these. Any insight and advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Crazy Heart beats, You can find the details here: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcitp.aspx This has the following exams: Exam 70-432:TS: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance Exam 70-450RO: Designing, Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Administrative Solution Using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 You need to pass the first exam to take the second exam. I hear that free second shot is available right now for these exams. I Haven't tried these exams to say about the structure, but The previous version had section wise exam for one paper in PRO exam. (Time allocated for a section of exam and until you complete you can't move to the next section. Once coomplete the section and move to the next one, you can't come back to that section.) If you need books, you can check for each exam.As of I know, no books are available yet. But you can use the books used for the previous versions (70-431, 70-443 & 70-444) Hope this helps
Thanks a lot preethi...I have decided to take the 2008 certifications and goin to do one for a month ..let me see how i progress !!
