Performance hit with database mirroring?

    Hi All,

I am about to start experimenting with DB mirroring on SQL2005.

I would be interested if anyone could clarify if there is a performance hit with database mirroring.

The intended setup is to use a much less powerful server (1 x Intel) than our production boxes ( 2 x AMD) to hold the mirror. If a transaction is written to the principal does it have to wait for the miror to 'catch-up' before completing the transaction?

Interested in you experience on this!

    Thanks
    Fergus

There shouldn't be any performance hit with the database mirroring, make sure no other batch bulk load jobs are scheduled during office hours to avoid clash of such operations.
