    Bin dankbar für alle Infos

does it make sense for non-english posters to use a web based translator rather than wait for a same language expert to answer?
i used paralink to translate the question

    Hello forum,
have there a question. Is the SQL server quicker in 2005 on the same hardware and performanter?
    Am grateful for all infos
    Greeting

    anyways,
for the very basic operations, there should be very little difference, because SQL 2000 was already very good.
some operations are actually slower on 2000 than 2005
Be sure to run a Profiler Trace on SQL 2000 before 2005, and compare individual SQL queries
There are special improvements in SQL 2005, such as the affinitize connections to specific processors by port number
Otherwise, i think most of the improvements are in handling large queries, especially involving parallel execution plans

    above translates to:

There is a risk with meaning of few words in translator, so I believe its best to wait for that lingual expert to answer. Its not a problem as long the originator understand the reply in English language too.

Otherwise there will be no use of having multi-lingual forum sections in this site.

Well, I cannot help but notice that some of the questions from the Spanish language sections are being translated and posted in the English language section by moderator Luis Martin, in case no answer is coming in the other section.<br /><br />It does help to learn English if you're working with computers and software, as you stand a better chance of getting help on forums like this.<br /><br />And who knows - in a couple of years it may be helpful to speak Chinese. (Hm - well, perhaps the learning curve for reading and writing Chinese is a little steeper than it is for English.[<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-5.gif' alt=';)' />])

Sorry about that! Was quite busy the days before the festive season.

[<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt=':)' />]<br /><br />--<br />Frank Kalis<br />Moderator<br />Microsoft SQL Server MVP<br />Webmaster:<a target="_blank" href=http://www.insidesql.de>http://www.insidesql.de</a>

Actualy in essence is't just about the fact that Belgium is trilingual and that English is the foreign language. [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-5.gif' alt=';)' />]<br />It is a fact that not all belgians actualy speak, read or write all three the languages.<br />[:0] (Dutch, French, German)<br /><br />And writing German is a challenge for those who do it very rare.
