Does anyone have any experience with Pillar Data Systems SAN solution? They only seem to support RAID 5, yet offer their product as a solution for database applications. They do seem to have some interesting technology that locates data on the disk based on its importance to the company ( ie. production data on outer ring).

According to what I've read on this forum, this system doesn't seem appropriate for database storage due to its lack of configurability (ie. Limited RAID options).

    Thanks,

    Scott

i am ok with RAID 5 now because people have so much memory the write traffic to data is less,

but it is absolutely essential to have separate physical disks for data and logs
