I have hired a design company to come up with a new look for SQL-Server-Performance.Com. Below are three URLS to three high-level design concepts. Please take a look at all three and tell me which you like, which you dislike, and why. Once I get it narrowed down to a single design, then I will refine that specific design based on your feedback. http://www.agdesignpro.com/SSP/index1.htm http://www.agdesignpro.com/SSP/index2.htm http://www.agdesignpro.com/SSP/index3.htm Also, if you don't like any of them, tell me. Thanks for your input. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
My vote is for the second onehttp://www.agdesignpro.com/SSP/index2.htm. Satya SKJ Moderator http://www.SQL-Server-Performance.Com/forum This posting is provided “AS IS†with no rights for the sake of knowledge sharing.
Satya, why do you prefer the second one? The more detail, the better? ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com

The 3rd is to yellow. Between 1rs and 2nd I prefered 2nd because fonts, small yellow lines, subtopics with a litle mark and header. Design is more attractive for me. I'd also go for the second. It does look more "modern" and stylish. 1st and 3rd look too old-fashioned to me. -- Frank Kalis SQL Server MVP http://www.insidesql.de
I agree with Luis & Frank, as the second one gives tough look of website with a perforation between the topics. Color matching is absolutely 100% suited. Satya SKJ Moderator http://www.SQL-Server-Performance.Com/forum This posting is provided “AS IS†with no rights for the sake of knowledge sharing.
Yes, Second link looks good with clear color and Arrow on the topics Madhivanan Failing to plan is Planning to fail
sir, i go for the third one because , it doesn't stress on eye or if possible please the color of Titles would be in dull color so that it look cool (doesn't stress eyes). http://www.agdesignpro.com/SSP/index3.htm hsGoswami ghemant@gmail.com
Just had another look at them. If possible I would move this "Microsoft SQL Server Performance...." slogan from the image to the upper right in the second sample. Maybe with an image just like in the third sample. Right now the upper right corner looks a bit too empty as if there is missing something. -- Frank Kalis SQL Server MVP http://www.insidesql.de
My choice ishttp://www.agdesignpro.com/SSP/index2.htm But insted of yellow strips try out some different color. Insted of yellow I will prefer blue/white or blue and white combination. Surendra Kalekar
Like the header on the third one with the round edges and the transition over to the menu. The edges on the second ones I find to sharp. The first one is a bit too simple in its layout.<br /><br />Like the menu of the third one if one slightly increased the contrast between the text and background and removed the arrow stuff on the headers "->|". Pure text I find to be better. Don't like the yellow lines between the headers in the second one very much. Are these menues supposed to be expandable with a show/hide function or will they always show?<br /><br />About the order I would definitly move up the Forum and Web Logs link to the top. Anything that has content that change often should be at the top (imho) <img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-5.gif' alt='' /><br /><br />Overall I would say the third one with a few minor changes.
What I think I am going to do is combine the best features of the second and third designs. When the designer gets back with me, I'll let you guys see it and provide additional feedback. Thanks again for your help. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
