SQL Server Performance

Problems with website

    Sorry for the problems with the website's availability lately. The web service, for some reason, just stops working. I am in the process of working on this as we speak. Still don't have any idea what is going on, or why.

    Sorry. I am still trying to determine the cause of the problem. It is still possible there will be some temporary service interruptions until I figure this out.

    An update, I think I found the problem. It was actually a bug in the Microsoft Access Jet Database Engine. I recently started using a new application to track website activity, and it uses Access as its database. I hate Access, but the app only works with Access, so I had no choice. The problem only occurs on Windows 2003, and there is a hotfix for it. I got the hotfix and installed it. Hopefully, the website problem will go away now.

    Seems it corrected the issues, no sight of problems since this morning [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-2.gif' alt=':D' />]<br /><br />Edit: From GMT 13:00 hours onwards site is inaccessible and intermittent timeouts occured, after an email to Brad it fixed.     More problems Monday morning. So this time, I am turning off the Access-based app, and going to see what happens.

    Pretty shameful that those dedicated to sorting out SQL Server performance problems are hampered by Ms Access' idiosyncracies. Talk of David and Goliath (or maybe not).
