Are there any graphical tools out there that make building queries in the Query Analyzer any easier?

First, have you tried Enterprise Manager? It can help build queries.

There are products from some other vendors, such as www.imceda.com and www.apexsql.com that can help. See the Software Spotlights on this website for more info.

I tested Apex SQL Edit some time ago and I really like the auto-completion feature.

Excel has a feature called Microsoft Query Tool (see under Data, Get External Data, New Database Query) that is similar to Access in its graphical nature. If you don't understand t_sql well, why not try some report tools which is ofter easier to use to create database queries. Apex SQL has a report tool as does RepTool, Intelliview, EZWebReports, Report Maker, HotQuery etc etc.

I just tested Apex SQL Edit and like the "Format SQL" option, which takes your SQL statement and will reorganize it so it runs faaster.

I did this with a test case and saw an immediate improvement from 8 seconds to 6 seconds.

    My question is:

Does Query Analyzer have an option for Formatting SQL, like SQL Edit? Does any other tool or software have this function? I have not seen it in the ones I have tested.

    Thanks.
