Not sure if this is the right place for this but need a vent. I am curious to hear from any folks effected by the above acquisition? I have been trying to deal with some product issues and have been tortured by the lack of the left knowing what the right is supposed to do. It seems that the big deal was to get Lite Speed but other products might be left in the dust. Thanks for any comments about your experiences.

    Funy, if you check:
    http://www.imceda.com/

    go to Quest.

Also DiagnosticManager was from NetIq, now is Quest.

From my perspective, Imceda and Quest are only partially integrated. For example, advertising is now done by Quest, but payment for advertising is done partially from Quest and partially from Imceda. I imagine it will take some time for Quest to get fully integrated with Imceda.

    Hi Curtis,

I'm pretty certain I've replied to a post of yours on another site, but for the sake of completeness (and for any readers of these forums with similar questions) I'll post a response here as well.

I used to work for Imceda, and then Quest up until the end of August '05, when they made pretty much the entire Imceda Melbourne development team redundant. This included all of original developers (of which I am one) of Speed SQL IDE from SpecApps, the company Imceda purchased IDE from back in May of '04. There is only one of the original developers of Speed SQL IDE, Change Manager, and SQL Watch left working for Quest... however he is working on other projects as the the development (or lack of development for IDE and ChangeManager) was moved to Russia.

Things may have changed since then, but that was the state of play when they got rid of me.

I hope this helps to clear up some things for anyone that had been wondering what was going on with some of the old Imceda products.

Lurks,<br /><br />Sorry to hear the bad news. I have been poking around and can't seem to find anything good to hear about Quest's Toad offering. Especially from the old SQL IDE users. What's your take on the Toad they offer now? I get the impression that it does not even compare. Kinda strange moving development to Russia if there is no devleopment?! Neo,

I obviously haven't look at Toad as it stands now. But I got to look at the beta version before quest got rid of me. And without sounding too biased, it sucked.

Has been quite awhile now for me to remember exactly what the issues were. But I do know the developers of IDE got together and put together an email of all the issues we thought Toad had. Quest didn't even appear to be interested in learning from what we'd been through developing IDE.
I guess they figured they made Toad for Oracle so they knew everything there was to know about making an IDE for SQL Server as well as oracle. Their mistake as far as I'm concerned.

Well, following the recent discussions there, it seems as though the participants rather like to get involved in flame wars than discuss actual theoretical problems. Traffic exploded in that newsgroups over the last several months, but most of this is due to postings that really shouldn't be made at all.
