Raid 50 vs Raid 5

Hi,
Does anyone know how to calculate Raid 50 IO/sec compared to Raid 5.

The Problem:
Our live server(Raid5 on san - fibre link) is currently 33% down on write performance compared to our application developers running Raid50. I was wondering if this could be the problem I have heard raid 50 has better performance but just how much better?

raid 50 usually means 2 identical raid 5 arrays mirrored together for additional fault tolerance
which means more over head

also, you need to know the number of disks, rpm etc
then you can only calculate a theoretical number, which most controllers can't do anyways

i think your problem is somewhere else, not related to the 5 vs 50 config
