I'm trying to a search, quite simple, for performance counters missing

    and I keep getting

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e31'

    Timeout expired

    /forum/search.asp, line 349

    Any ideas, Brad?

Tom, thanks for letting me know.

I did some research on this, and this problem is a known issue with the Snitz forum software, the currently does not have a fix. It is related to searching text datatypes.

To minimize this problem, I have archived all posts over 1 year old, which has helped. Also, if you get this error again, you can reduce the odds of it happening by restricting the query as much as possible.

Also, and better yet, the entire forum, current and archived posts, can be searched using the Advanced Search link available on every web page. This is actually a much faster way to search for old posts.

As Brad said, that's one of the drawbacks when you need to support different RDBMSs. Snitz supports afaik, MySQL, SQL Server and Access. And all have different full-text functionality. [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-6.gif' alt=':(' />]<br />Try limiting your search at least to certain forum or to a certain date range.<br /><br />--<br />Frank Kalis<br />Microsoft SQL Server MVP<br /<a target="_blank" href=http://www.insidesql.de>http://www.insidesql.de</a><br />Ich unterstütze PASS Deutschland e.V. <a target="_blank" href=http://www.sqlpass.de>http://www.sqlpass.de</a>) <br />
