Hi Could anyone tell whether we can use a common shared disk for backup which can be used by multiple instances that sit on a single node of a cluster ? If yes, could you please tell me the steps to setup a common backup disk for all the instances that sit on a single cluster node? Thank you, Yours SQL Buddy.
It is not a good practice to use that common (shared) disk at all, even I think once you resource to an instance then other instances may not be able to use the same. What is the allocation of the size in this case. By sumup of all the database backups it will be more than and in this case I don't suggest to use that. What kind of backup issues you have at the moment>
Hi Satya, Thank you very much for your reply. Actually, in one of our meetings, one of the members raised this question. I am also of the opinion that we can't use the common shared disk for backups. I want to take expert's opinion like your's just for confirmation. Since we are using multiple instances on the cluster nodes, we are in the process of allocating size for the backups and currently we don't have any backup issues. I really appreciate your quick help. Yours SQLBuddy
